Zach was a two-time first-team elite all-state athlete, three-time first team all-district, and a captain of state champion football and baseball teams.
Zach went on to play baseball at Baylor where he was a Big 12 Player of the Year, two-time ABCA All-Region all-star, and two-time member of NCAA All-Regional teams. He was also named All-Big 12 twice and was a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award.
He was a four-time academic all-conference selection, ESPN Magazine Academic All-American, and 10-time member of the Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in education, and later earned his master's in education and sports management.
He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in 2006, and then powered the Frederick Keys to the league championship in 2007, earning a big league spring training invite.
Zach currently serves as director of the Katy Twelve Baseball Program in Katy, TX, and is thankful for his experiences at DCHS.
