Dan Dowson ‘77 , was a member of the Dowling baseball and golf teams. In baseball, the team was undefeated his sophomore year, ranked #1 in State his junior year and played in the State tournament his senior year. Dan furthered his baseball career at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa as captain of the team. Dan earned tryouts with the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets. Dan continued to play Men’s Softball after college, winning thirteen state championships and one World Championship.

Dan is an avid sports enthusiast. He has devoted many hours to coaching youth softball, basketball, football, Little League Baseball, and AAU baseball. Dan remembers the pride and tradition of excellence that went with being a Dowling Maroon, the friends he made and the sense of family among his classmates that he still feels 32 years later. Dan resides in Indianola, Iowa with his wife Lisa, daughter; Brette and son; Blake.
