• Steve played football (halfback) and baseball (outfielder) while at Dowling, earning Varsity letters in both sports his last two years
• In football, he was the leading ground gainer and leading conference scorer (9 touchdowns). As a senior, was voted to the Register & Tribune All City 1st Team and was named Dowling MVP by his teammates his senior year
• In baseball, he was starting outfielder junior and senior years and achieved All Conference honors
• He went on to play football on scholarship at UNI (then Iowa State Teachers College) but was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma his sophomore year. Steve battled the disease for 7 years, (including as a participant in a research study at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland), and died in July 1973, just 10 days after his 26th birthday
• Steve was happily married to his wife, Diane Dorrow, for 7 years

• Representing Steve today are his wife Diane Eoriatti Elliott SJA `65, his sister Chris Eoriatti Christy SJA `67, and his brothers Chuck `64, Dennis `70, Tim `75, and Pete `82
