• Del is an athletic trainer at Dowling Catholic High School where he has worked since 1977
• For more than 35 years, Del has capably cared for and assisted countless Dowling athletes with post-injury rehabilitation as well as coached them on their own proper training and preparation for competition
• His Athletic Hall of Fame nomination application included these words from a former student and current fellow Dowling Catholic coach:
[Del] is extremely knowledgeable and credible. He has always had the best interests of the athlete first and foremost. He spends countless hours at practices and competitions for DCHS athletes. As a coach, I trusted Del to care for my injured athletes always knowing that whatever he determined (type of injury, extent, rehab, etc.)to be necessary, I fully supported. He would never send an injured athlete out into competition risking further damage for the sake of a team’s success.
• Del lives with his wife Jackie in Des Moines. They have five adult children.
