Matt’s memories of his time at Dowling Catholic High School will last a lifetime because of the friends he made here. He says, “The people, families and coaches have shaped my life and given me more blessings than I ever could imagine.”
Matt excelled in football and basketball all four years at DCHS, and was on the track team his freshman year. He was on the Honor Roll all four years and was a National Honor Society member and Aquinas Key Excellence Medal recipient. Additionally, he was on the First Team for all of the following: All State Elite Punter, All State Punter, All State Wide Receiver, All Western Iowa Punter, and All Division 3 Punter. Other awards include Shrine Game wide receiver and punter, UNA All State First Team Receiver, Mouth of the Midwest Receiver Award, and Iowa Coaches All State Academic Receiver.
Matt graduated from W.P. Casey School of Business at Arizona State University in Sports Business and Media. Matt was an All Pac 12 Academic Team member for 3 years, received Honorable Mention for 1st Team and 2nd Team. He was the Special Teams’ Player of the Year and received the Pat Tillman Award his junior year. He was a semi-finalist for the William Campbell Trophy – the top scholar athlete in the nation. He left ASU to join the NFL in 2017 where he earned the starting punter job in his rookie year for the Miami Dolphins.
