• Ryan participated in 4 sports at Dowling: baseball, swimming, basketball & football
• His high school baseball career included a Dowling State Championship in 1999. That year, he was Co-Captain, made the elite All State Team, 1st Team all Conference and All District (also in 1998), and was named Mr. Iowa Baseball by the American Legion.
• In 1999 in swimming, he was the 50 Freestyle District and State Champion and was 1st Team All Conference. He was a three-time state qualifier.
• Ryan was named Dowling Male Athlete of the Year in 1999
• He went on to play baseball for Creighton University, making 2nd Team All Missouri Valley Conference Team in 2003
• He played in the Chicago Cubs minor league system for 2 seasons, notably being an Arizona League All Star and Arizona League Batting Champion in 2003
• Ryan is currently the Head Coach of the Roosevelt High School baseball team. In 2011, he was named CIML Metro conference Baseball Coach of the Year
• He lives in West Des Moines
