Graduation Year: 2012

Amara was born in Sierra Leone, Africa, during the Civil War. With assistance from a local religious charity, he and several family members immigrated to the U.S., settling in Des Moines.

Amara attended Hillis Elementary and became friends with Max Schaefer through little league. He eventually moved in with the Schaefer family and attended Holy Trinity and DCHS. He has fond memories of many friends and excellent teachers, but has a particular fondness for Coach Wilson for seeing something in him that he didn’t see in himself. He is grateful to Coach Wilson and Coach O’Connor for their continued friendship.

Amara attended the University of Michigan on a full football scholarship, graduating in 2016. He was granted U.S. Citizenship in 2015 and currently lives in Newcastle, WA, where he is a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. He credits his Dowling education with strengthening his faith, which continues to serve as a guiding compass.
