Jessica was a Dr. Robert Breedlove Scholarship recipient and member of the National Honor Society and National Council on Youth Leadership. She holds the school records in the 100 and 200 and the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. She qualified for the Drake Relays and state all four years of high school and was a state champion in the 200 and 4x100 relay in 2013. She continued her track career at Drake University where she was a Missouri Valley All-Conference performer.

She graduated from Drake with a bachelor’s degree and Master of Public Administration & Human Resources. She founded and served as head coach of the parochial school track club and also worked as the assistant sprints coach for the DCHS girls track & field team.

In 2017 she earned the State of Iowa Chapter President Award for Best Buddies of Iowa. In 2018 she was a Community Impact Award finalist and Team Impact award winner for volunteerism in the community. Jessica currently works at Bankers Trust in West Des Moines and continues to coach parochial school athletes in event-specific techniques.

What Jessica remembers most about her experience at DCHS is the community that turned into family. She felt constant support from friends, family, teammates, coaches and teachers to relentlessly pursue her goals. She developed confidence and reached high levels of success because she was motivated by something bigger than herself.
